My book is out today!
It’s Oct. 29, which means that at long last, check out my newest book—a lyrically written grimdark fantasy novel titled The Wilderlands!
If you like physical books you can order from Barnes & Noble or Amazon. If you like ebooks, you can order from most major platforms. (If you exclusively listen to audiobooks, then I should have something for you in the coming months.)
If you happen to be in Des Moines, Iowa on the evening of Nov. 4, I’ll also be at Beaverdale Books at 6:30 p.m. CST/7:30 p.m. EST. There’ll also be a stream of my reading there through Beaverdale Book’s Facebook page. I’ll have about 20 copies of The Wilderlands available there to buy as well.
If you’ve ever enjoyed anything I’ve written to any degree, please check out this book. Spend a bit less on the ebook, ask a local library to order a copy, recommend it to a friend, really anything.
I’m phenomenally proud of this one and would like to see it do well enough to at least break even if possible. Even if you don’t read it this book (which you should) if I’ve ever written something personally or professionally that you feel is worth $7 of your dollars, please pick up the ebook.
If you’ve managed to avoid hearing me talk about it up to now, The Wilderlands is set in a world overgrown with flourishing vegetation and wild life. There are those who live in the five cities behind thick stone walls, and those who live and fight and die in the titular Wilderlands.
Our story takes place as a caravan moves on the Road from one city to another and is beset by Wilderfolk. Through the bend of circumstance, Knalc — one of the Wilderfolk — finds himself having to escort three surviving members of the caravan to their home: a mute boy, an man dressed all in red, and a girl with more hate in her than sense.
The book is probably the piece of writing I’m most proud of, I and others have spent a great deal of time getting it to look as wonderful and read and nicely as it does now.
